4lbs 13oz

Jackson is home and growing like a weed :) We went to the doctor and he is up to 4lbs 13oz, he has gained almost a lb in the week since he has come home. Things are starting to settle down at our house, I have spent my first week at home with my boys and things are going great. I am starting to get a schedule figured out and I am enjoying every minute of it :) Isaac loves his baby brother, he is trying to touch him and help me out all day long. I can't wait till Jackson gets a little bigger to play with his big brother, it is going to be so much fun to watch them play! Also, Isaac has been taking some steps, it is so much fun watching him start to walk. Boys are going to be so much fun:)

6 days old...

Jackson is 6 days old and doing amazing! This guy is such a fighter for his little size. He has made amazing progress in the last 6 days and we are so excited. He is now off of all IV's and feeding really well. He is up to 28 ml of milk at each feeding and the doctor is increasing his feeds every day. His weight has started to increase, his weight went down 5% in the first 5 days which was expected and as of yesterday it went up 2%. The doctor is going to try and get him out of the warmer in the next couple of days and see if he can maintain his temp on his own. Also, as long as he takes his feedings by bottle or nursing for 12 to 24 hours they will take out his feeding tube, which would be amazing. Jackson hates his feeding tube, he is quite handsy and tries to pull it out all the time :) He has a little jaundice as well so he is under the billy lights right now, but should be out of that in a couple days as well. His color already looks better today. We expect him to be home next week sometime if he continues on the track he is on, we are so excited and can't wait to have our family all together at home. It is funny to see Isaac with Jackson, he has no idea what is going on. He will touch his head and turn away totally disinterested :) I can't wait to see my boys play together. Please continue to pray he grows quickly and stays healthy.

Jackson David Henion

We would like to welcome the newest addition to our little family, Jackson David Henion. Jackson was born Tuesday February 2, 2010 at 2:32 pm. Jackson weighed in at 3lbs 7ozs and 16.5" long. We are so thankful for our newest blessing.
I was admitted to the hospital Monday because Jackson's amniotic fluid was below the normal level of 5 cm. They thought I was going to have the baby that day but decided to wait and do a growth ultrasound on Tuesday morning to see how he was growing. The amniotic fluid was actually higher at that ultrasound and his doppler looked great, but Jackson had not grown in the week and a half since his last growth ultrasound. The doctor didn't feel comfortable holding out any longer and the c-section was scheduled for 1:30 on Tuesday.
The c-section went great it took a little longer than Isaac's because of the scar tissue from the first c-section and I also had my tubes tied. Jackson came out kicking an screaming and was checked out immediatly by the neonatal staff. From their check up the decided he could go into the NIMU, which is the neonatal intemediate nursery, he didn't have to go into the NICU!
Ron went with Jackson, he was put under an oxygen hood for breathing and hooked up to an IV for low blood sugar. They also checked his heart where they heard a heart murmer which they said is pretty normal for a baby his size and age. Jackson was taking out of the oxygen hood after an hour and they have not heard the heart murmer since!! He is now only only on the IV for low blood sugar and they are planning on taking that out today at sometime. He is also feeding really well, downing his bottles and they are increasing his food! He is doing so amazing for how little he is, our next challenge is to get that kid gaining weight. He needs to be 4 lbs before he leaves, so they expect to have him hear at least 2 weeks.
I am being discharged tomorrow, so we are going to have to figure out a schedule to come visit Jackson as much as possible. He has the best care here but of course it doesn't feel the same when we are not taking care of him ourselves. So please pray for his continued success and growth, we would love to have him home as soon as possible. Also, thank you for all your prayers we know Jackson would not be doing as good as he is without God and the power of prayer.

Back to Blogging

So, I have been told that I haven't been very good at updating my blog :) Whoops, as you know life with an infant and being pregnant with another can be a little crazy, but I am going to try and get back on the horse.

I am currently 31 weeks pregnant right now and Isaac is 11 and 1/2 months old! Things are very crazy for us right now and to be honest a little scary. I visited the doctor last week and found out that the blood was not flowing quite correctly to our little boy in my tummy through the umbilical cord. I was told they wanted to start watching me very very closely coming into the office for testing every Monday and Thursday. I went in this last Monday and things seemed to get worse so they admitted me to the hospital and were monitoring me even closer. I was getting Non stress tests 4 times a day and "Doppler" tests once a day to monitor the blood flow. Things seemed to improve slightly from me relaxing so they allowed me to go home and be on complete bed rest. I am only allowed to go to the bathroom, take a shower and go to my doctors appointments. They still expect me to go early but are hoping our little boy grows a little more before he has to be born. As of last week Thursday he was only measuring at 2 lbs 12 ozs, which is about what half what Isaac was at birth. So, yes we want him to get bigger! We were able to visit the NICU at Spectrum to see where our little boy will most likely go after he is born so we could be prepared for what to expect. It was really hard to see all those babies, there are 81 babies in NICU right now, but good to prepare us as well. There is really no better place for our baby to be born, they deal with this everyday!
I had an appointment this morning and things have not changed from Wednesday so they want me to be on continued bed rest and come back in every Monday and Thursday's for checkups. This was a an image from this morning, isn't he cute :)

Please keep us in your prayers, looks like it is just a waiting game for right now but we want to have this guy get as big as possible before he does.

Also, Isaac is getting big. It seems like he is getting taller and taller everyday and learning new things all the time. It is so exciting to see what he catches on to.

This is the picture I took for his 1 year birthday invite, we are planning on having a cowboy birthday party for him the weekend after his birthday. Things may change depending on when the baby comes, but we are excited to celebrate our little guys 1 year birthday! Wow how time flys!

Keep tuned into the blog, I will try and keep it updated more regularly :)

13 weeks

I am officially 13 weeks pregnant and Isaac is a little over 7 months old. Wow how crazy our life has become. I had another ultrasound today and bebe #2 is doing great. Growth is right on and I have been gaining weight pretty steadily rather than loosing as I was at first. I was hoping to find out the sex but it was a little too early yet. Dr. said everything seems to be right on track so I don't have to see the high risk doctor again till October 23!

Our house has been pretty fun too, Isaac's first tooth came in yesterday, and he has been sitting up and playing on his own. It is so amazing to see how much he grows everyday. Ron and I just stare at him sometimes and say "He is sooo big". He really is looking like a little boy now and not a baby anymore. I don't know what happened!!He is also getting quite the personality. He cracks me up all the time.
This past weekend was fun, my brothers and future sister in laws all went to Chicago for the Labor Day weekend. Erica lives there and we visited her and spent time together. We had so much fun it was a perfect weekend. We did a lot of walking and saw a lot of different things. I love my family and it was such a great time just hanging out together. I wish Brian and Erica lived closer so we could see them all the time :(

Isaac is going to be a big brother!!!!

Are you serious?, is probably the question you are asking yourself right now, and yes we are :) Ron, Isaac and I are expecting another little one! The due date is March 9, 2010, so Isaac and his little brother or sister will be about 13 months apart. I am 11 weeks right now, and feeling okay. I was doing really well nauseous wise up until this week, and now I have not been doing so well. My crohns doctor put me on steriods, so I am feeling better that way, but again I am going to be seeing the high risk doctors and having lots appointments to make sure this little one is okay. We are really excited, but nervous at the same time life is going to get even crazier around our house :) God has continued to bless us and pray that this pregnancy and baby well go great as well. Please keep our family in your prayers as we embark on this next journey.
